National Underground Railroad Freedom Center
Cincinnati, OH

Stated several times to be the most difficult structure ever constructed in the Cincinnati and Tri-State area, the 158,000 square foot museum contains several different facets of concrete construction, which illustrate examples of the finest work in the industry.

One of the more demanding aspects of the project was the acceleration of the already aggressive structural schedule, which was shortened from eleven months to eight months. With delays at the beginning of the project, the revision of the schedule translated to the majority of the difficult work being accomplished by the brutal winter months of December 2002 through March 2003. By incorporating multiple shifts in weather that was above average in severity, the milestone dates were accomplished leading to the desired completion date for the structure in May 2003. [details]
